GLEE FOR GOLD Rewind

It was a really nice experience being a part of Glee for Gold competition by the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI). Yeah, it was a different ride for me to take the stage and sing. Ahahaha!

Audition piece:

“Some Nights” by FUN / “Cups (When I’m Gone)” by Anna Kendrick

The audition was a really nerve-racking and funny experience. We had been practicing for our piece and it went well. However, we didn’t have enough time to perfect the choreography even how simple it just is. Anyway, we had our moments onstage. We owned it our way. AND, WE MADE IT FOR GRAND FINALS!

GRAND FINALS

We got to be the first performers of the contest. Yes, we had a hard time dealing with technical problems as the first ones to be seen by the audience. There were flats, but everything went amazing. That was really a magical moment especially singing “Fight Song”. It’s a favorite magical moment onstage.

Final Piece:

“Wings” by Little Mix / “Dirty Pop” by NSYNC / “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” by Eurythmics / “Sweet Dreams” by Air Supply / “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten

Ultimately, we had learned much of the experience in the contest (This was my first contest ever!). It molded us to become better individuals and performers. We never got the title, but it’s not about winning. It’s about defeating the worries inside you, and standing up from the fall that tried to push you down.

“I still got a lot of fight left in me” – Rachel Platten (Fight Song)
