Carrie Underwood made an announcement on August 20th on her Facebook account about the upcoming fifth studio album Storyteller, which will be out on October 23rd.
I feel like a lot of the songs that I wrote and gravitated to ended up being more traditional and ‘twangy’ than anything I have ever done before
I love the story telling aspect of Country music…it’s one of the reasons I always wanted to be a part of it.
The debut single of the album is called Smoke Break, an anthem for hard-working people. This is written by Underwood, Hillary Lindsey, and Chris DeStefano. Listen to the song preview here.
She said “I don’t drink / But sometimes I need a stiff drink / Sipping from a highball glass / Let the world fade away” / She said “I don’t smoke / But sometimes I need a long drag / Yeah, I know it might sound bad / But sometimes I need a smoke break”
The music video for the single debuted on August 25th exclusively on Entertainment Tonight through Vevo.
The album will also likely feature a song for her son, Isaiah Michael Fisher.
I’d be very willing to put money that it will be there
